Let John Carney do it himself

John Carney loves to take care of all the lecture business himself.  Offer some help to him in hosting a lecture in your town?  He’ll turn you down.  So what does this mean?  I think this means we should all let John Carney do everything by himself.   Let John Carney do it all by himself.

Picture it, John Carney calls the local contact asking the best place to host a magic lecture.   Sorry, John.  I am not going to help you undercut me.  If you want the information, I want a kickback.  How about $100?

He would like to send an email to all the magicians on my mailing list?  Sorry, John.  My list is confidential, and I would never jeopardize the sanctity of its members.  I may be willing to forward an email from you if you pay me $250, though.

If he wants to keep those of us who promote and put together lectures out of the loop, I see no reason for us to embrace him into our loops.  If he is so insistent on doing it himself, he can do it all by himself.  I would not expect him to work for free; why should we?
